Sam Fender has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to protect the UK's grassroots live music spots.

The star was awarded the cheque on 16 October as his third album People Watching was chosen as the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

He has opted to donate the funds to the MVT, in recognition of the crucial part small stages had in his initial steps.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing my current career if it wasn't for all the gigs I did around the region, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Sam Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – about one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the trust in its efforts to support the industry, by adding a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Fender also took part, generating more than £100,000 on his live tour to support thirty-eight local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money helped locations that were dealing with imminent closure due to challenges stemming from floods, fires and personal losses, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and sound issues.

Other venues were granted financial assistance in improving facilities and sound and lighting systems that helped artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that revenue from concerts in big venues supports the independent spots, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has commented.

The musician is among several artists to contribute his honor funds to good deeds.

When they earned the award in the year 1996 for their album Different Class, vocalist Cocker declared that the band would donate their winnings to the non-profit the charity.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite divided her prize between multiple organizations, including the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked updated gear," Ms Dynamite shared with a publication.

Previously, they donated their winnings to the community center that developed their band, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally winners that year the group donated their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was diagnosed the condition.

"Receiving the award was ample," remarked artist Small. "The money was the extra but we didn't need the extra, because we had the main prize. So our winning affected another person's life."

Last week, the MVT shared it had rescued several small stages in that region, by transferring them to local control.

One venue in that area and the second in that location were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "stakes" in the buildings.
